Under that one name you can buy three different things. The first is a seat on a scheduled boat that sails whether you book or not. The second is a place on a shared catamaran, priced per head. The third is the whole boat and its skipper for your group alone, priced per group. The price on the card means something different in each case, so check which one you are looking at first.
The capes south of the town are protected land with no road down to the water. Cap Taillat and Cap Camarat belong to the Conservatoire du littoral, and a boat is the only way to anchor beneath them. The full-day Pershings give Cap Taillat two hours.
The catamarans and the private boats drop anchor for a swim, with paddleboards and snorkels aboard. The bay of villas east of the town, the Canoubiers, is the usual stop. The scheduled boats from Nice and Cannes do not stop to swim.
Every motor charter adds fuel on top of the fare. You pay €100 per booking on the sunset boat and €90 or €120 on the bay boat, by length. The Pershing listings add a surcharge too but never publish the amount. The catamarans and the scheduled boats add nothing for fuel.
Most of the boats berth at Marines de Cogolin, round the head of the gulf. The catamaran also sails from Cavalaire and Le Lavandou, farther west, and the scheduled boats start in Nice and Cannes. Only the sunset boat and one Pershing half day board by the harbour master's office in town, so read the meeting point before you book.
If all you want is the crossing, the public ferry does it. Les Bateaux Verts cross from Sainte-Maxime in about 15 minutes, from Port Grimaud in 20 to 25 and from the Cogolin marina in about 25, and a fully electric boat has worked the route since 2025. It is a ferry: no swim stop, no anchorage, no commentary.

Take the ferry if you only need to reach the town. Take the catamaran if you want the water for its own sake at the lowest price. Take the whole boat when you are four or more, or when you want to choose where you swim.
