What a Private Boat in Saint Tropez Costs: Fuel, Pickups and Group Size

A private boat here costs $435 to $3,019 for the group, but that is never the whole bill. Every motor charter adds fuel, some charge to collect you in town, and the price per head depends on how many of you share it. What does a private boat in Saint Tropez cost?

Here are the private boats on sale, with the price for the group, how many each takes, the fuel on top, where you board and how long you are out.

The fares are US dollar prices from 26 September 2026, and they move with the date you choose. The fuel is set in euros by each operator and paid in euros, so it is written here in euros, never converted.

How does the fuel surcharge work, boat by boat?

Every motor charter lists fuel as an exclusion, so the price you book is not the price you pay. On the bay boat it is €90 for three hours or €120 for four, paid before the trip. The operator also lists €60 for two hours, though no two-hour trip was on sale in late September.

The sunset boat adds €100 per booking. The Pershing charters add a surcharge too, but the operator never publishes the amount. Ask for it in writing before you pay, and compare the total, not the fare. The catamarans add no fuel at all.

Is the price per person or per group?

Per group, on every private boat, up to the number the boat takes. So the price per head falls as you fill it. Here is each boat split two, four and full ways, with the fuel written beside it rather than converted.

The fuel is per booking too, so it shrinks per head the same way. For six on the bay boat, the €90 splits six ways.

How many fit on each boat?

The bay boat takes six, the sunset boat eight, the Pershing 40s eight adults or ten with children, and the Pershing 45s ten.

If you are more than ten, no private boat here takes you all. You can book a second boat, or take the shared catamaran, which has no published limit.

Should you pick the bay boat or a Pershing?

The bay boat is a six-seat sports boat with a full water-sports kit: wakeboards, waterskis, tubes, paddleboards, snorkels and buoyancy aids. Dogs are welcome, up to two, shoes stay on the quay, and you bring your own food and drink for the coolbox. It has 116 reviews, every one of them five stars, and it berths at Marines de Cogolin.

A Pershing is a 13- to 15-metre motor yacht with snacks, soft drinks, snorkels and a paddleboard, and a restroom aboard on most. It costs four to seven times as much, and its fuel figure is not published. The half-day Pershing 40 is rated 4.8 from 57 reviews, and those include a 2024 complaint about a no-show and an operator reply admitting a charter booked for the wrong morning. Confirm your date in writing when you book.

Half day, full day or sunset?

A half day is four hours in the bays nearest the town. The half-day Pershing 40 passes Port Grimaud, the port and the citadel from the sea and stops in the Canoubiers. The half-day Pershing 45 gives you an hour at anchor there and an hour off Les Salins.

A full day is eight hours down the peninsula: two hours each off Pampelonne, in the bay of villas and under Cap Taillat, then an hour each at L'Escalet and Cap Camarat. The sunset boat is two hours: along the waterfront, then at anchor for the sunset with a bottle of bubbly.

Where do the boats berth?

The bay boat meets outside the harbour master's office at the Cogolin marina, free. The full-day Pershings berth at the same marina, and the operator sends the exact berth by message a few days ahead. The half-day Pershing 40 boards in town by the harbour master's office, on the Quai de l'Épi, or at the Cogolin marina.

What does a pickup in town cost?

On the bay boat, €50 to collect you from the town's port, Sainte-Maxime or Port Grimaud instead of the Cogolin marina. The half-day Pershing 45 includes collection from any of four harbours, at 09:00 or 14:00.

The full-day Pershings collect from the town, Port Grimaud or Sainte-Maxime on request, with no price published. In Port Grimaud you wait by the ferry hut at the harbour master's office; in Sainte-Maxime, at the fuel dock. The town's port runs one boat in and one out for pickups, so be on the quay at your time.

What's on board, and what isn't?

• The bay boat: the skipper, the water-sports kit, ice, water and glasses. No food and no restroom.
• The sunset boat: a bottle of bubbly, alcoholic and soft drinks, water and a restroom.
• The Pershings: snacks, soft drinks, water, snorkels and a paddleboard; towels and music on the half-day 45, and a galley and cabin on the full-day 45.
• Not on any: the fuel, gratuities, and a hotel pickup.

What about food, drink and tips?

On the Pershings you get snacks and soft drinks; for a proper lunch, bring it or ask the operator what it can add. On the bay boat you bring everything, and the skipper can book you a table at the beach restaurant at Les Graniers, which you pay. At Plage des Graniers you can also wave down the beach bar's tender.

Gratuities are excluded on the Pershings and the sunset boat, and no private boat includes them. A tip in euros at the quay is up to you.

What if the weather turns?

The boats cancel for a rough sea and give you a new date or a full refund. You can cancel free yourself up to 24 hours before the start. Book your boat early in your stay, so a bad day leaves you time to move it.

When is a shared catamaran the better buy?

For one to four of you, almost always. The catamaran is $74 a head for three hours under sail, with an aperitif, kayaks and paddleboards, and nothing added for fuel. Four on the bay boat pay about $108 each, plus the fuel.

At six, the bay boat comes to about $72 each before fuel, close to the catamaran's fare, and the boat goes where you choose. The catamaran needs eight people to sail, and you may be moved to another boat or harbour if it is short.

How do you book the right one?

• Count your group, children included, against each boat's limit.
• Pick the length: two hours at sunset, three or four on the bay boat, four or eight on a Pershing.
• Check the berth, and whether a pickup in town costs extra.
• Ask for the fuel figure in writing on a Pershing before you pay.
• Book early for July and August; each boat takes one group a sailing.
