Saint Tropez Tours FAQ
Prices, fuel, where the boats leave from, children, cruise days and refunds, answered from the operators' own listings and the town's official pages. Choosing between Saint Tropez tickets? The answers below settle most of it.
Two answers matter more than the rest. First, no fare buys entry to Saint Tropez itself. You buy a seat on a boat, a place on a catamaran, the whole boat, or a van and a guide. Second, every private motor boat adds a fuel surcharge, so the price you book is not the whole cost.
After that, it is the map. Most boats berth at Marines de Cogolin, not in the town. The scheduled boats start in Nice and Cannes, and the ferry is the quick way across the gulf.
How much do Saint Tropez tours cost?
From $74 a head on a shared catamaran, and $93 to $112 for the boat from Cannes or Nice. The shared van and the road day from Nice cost $145, and a private van day $170 to $487 a head. A private boat costs $435 to $3,019 per group, plus a fuel surcharge on every one.
Why do Saint Tropez boat prices say “plus fuel”?
Every motor charter lists fuel as an exclusion, so the price you book is not the whole cost. The sunset boat adds €100 per booking and the bay boat €90 for three hours or €120 for four, paid before you sail. The Pershing charters do not publish the amount: ask the operator for it before you book.
Do the boats leave from the town itself?
Mostly not. The bay boat, most of the Pershings and the catamarans berth at Marines de Cogolin at the head of the gulf, and the catamaran also sails from Cavalaire and Le Lavandou. The sunset boat leaves from the Capitainerie on the port, and some charters collect you in town, the bay boat for €50.
Can I get to Saint Tropez by boat from Nice or Cannes?
Yes, from May to October, on the Trans Côte d'Azur boats. The Nice boat leaves Quai Lunel at 09:00 and the Cannes boat Quai Saint-Pierre at 10:15; both land at 11:30 and leave at 16:30, so you get five hours in town. In 2026 the Cannes boat runs to 20 October, with last sailings on 23–25 October.
Is there a railway station in town?
No. Take the train to Saint-Raphaël and the ZOU! 876 bus, about 1 hour 15 minutes from €3, or the 878 along the coast from Toulon. The nearest airports are Toulon-Hyères, about 49 km away, and Nice, about 91 km.
Which tours include food or drink?
The sunset boat pours bubbly and drinks, and the Pershings carry snacks and soft drinks. The catamarans pour an aperitif and sell an €18 lunch box; the scheduled boats have a bar. The bay boat asks you to bring your own, and on the wine day the tasting fees are paid at each estate.
What is the best Saint Tropez tour for a family?
The bay boat: the whole boat for up to six, buoyancy aids, paddleboards, tubes and two swim stops. Infants ride on a lap on the boats, and the catamaran takes children from one year. On land, the town's museums are free for anyone under 12.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Every tour listed here refunds in full if you cancel at least 24 hours before it starts. The boats also cancel for bad weather with a new date or a refund, and a few shared tours cancel if too few people book.
Are any tours wheelchair accessible?
On land, yes: the shared van tour of the town and the hill villages says its vehicle and surfaces are wheelchair accessible. No boat listed here is, and every boat warns off anyone with back problems.
What can I do in Saint Tropez for free?
Walk the port, the lanes of La Ponche and the old town, and browse the market on Place des Lices on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. In regatta week you can watch the boats from the shore. The Citadelle and the town's two other museums charge €5 at the door.
When is the market?
Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:00 to 13:00, on Place des Lices, all year round. The scheduled boats land at 11:30, so a Tuesday or Saturday sailing gives you the last of it.
When is the big autumn regatta?
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez runs from late September to early October; in 2026 it is 26 September to 4 October. It is free to watch from the shore, and the regatta catamaran follows the racing from Marines de Cogolin that week only.
Is there a wine tour from Saint Tropez?
Yes: a private day to the Côtes de Provence estates around Le Cannet-des-Maures and Vidauban, with free pickup within 10 km of the town. The guide picks the estates on the day, and you pay the tasting fees at each one.
How long should I spend in town?
Five hours covers the port, the Citadelle and a market morning, which is what the boats from Nice and Cannes give you. A day on the water or in the hill villages needs a second day.
Where do private charters pick you up?
It depends on the boat, and the operator confirms the berth a few days ahead. The sunset boat meets at the Capitainerie on the port, most Pershings berth at Marines de Cogolin with collection in town on request, and the bay boat meets outside the Capitainerie at Marines de Cogolin.
What is Port Grimaud?
A canal town across the gulf, designed by the architect François Spoerry and given its building permit on 14 June 1966. The bay boat stops there for an hour, and the van tours spend 30 minutes to an hour.
Which town does the long beach belong to?
Pampelonne belongs to Ramatuelle, not to Saint Tropez, and covers 27 hectares. The full-day Pershings anchor off it for two hours.
Is there a ferry across the gulf?
Yes. Les Bateaux Verts cross from Sainte-Maxime in about 15 minutes, from Port Grimaud in 20 to 25 and from Marines de Cogolin in about 25. The road day from Nice uses the Sainte-Maxime crossing one way.
Where can I park?
Parking du Nouveau Port has 1,477 spaces, Parking des Lices 307 and Parking Foch 100; Place du XVe Corps gives the first two hours free. Street meters charge €3 for an hour and jump sharply past three.
When are the Bravades?
Every year from 16 to 18 May, with the Grande Bravade on the 17th. The Citadelle and the Musée de l'Annonciade close on 17 May.
Is the art museum open?
The Musée de l'Annonciade opens Tuesday to Sunday most of the year and daily from July to September. It closes from 15 January to 10 February and from 15 to 30 November, and costs €5.
What does the Citadelle cost?
€5, and free under 12; the ticket covers the maritime museum in the keep and the ramparts. It opens 10:00 to 18:30 from April to September and 10:00 to 17:30 from October to March.
Can I take a boat tour if I can't swim?
Yes. The scheduled boats and the sunset boat need no swimming, and on the charters and the catamarans swimming is optional. The bay boat carries buoyancy aids.
Do the catamarans always sail?
They need eight people per boat. Below that, you may be moved to another boat or another harbour, so keep your phone on the day before.
Is the four-hour bay boat the same price?
No. Three hours is $435 per group and four hours is $509, with fuel of €90 or €120 on top.
Are tips included?
No. The Pershing and sunset charters list gratuities as excluded, and the Cannes boat lists tips.
Can cruise passengers join a tour?
Yes. The shared van meets in front of the Hôtel de Paris, a two-minute walk from the tender pier, and the private tour meets you where the tender lands. Leave a margin before the last tender back.
What's the weather like?
Highs are about 29 °C in July and August and 13 to 14 °C in winter, on the Météo-France normals for Fréjus, the nearest coastal station. October and November are the wettest months.
Can I bring my dog on a boat?
The bay boat takes up to two dogs. The catamarans take no animals.
What does the private tour of the town include?
A driver-guide in a van for up to 13 and bottled water, for about 3 hours 40 minutes: the town, Grimaud and Port Grimaud. Pickup is anywhere in town or the neighbouring villages.
Does the road day from Nice include the boat?
One way. The van drives you to Sainte-Maxime and the ferry takes you across the gulf; you come back by road by way of Port Grimaud.
Is there a helicopter tour of Saint Tropez?
No helicopter flight is sold here. For the coast from the water, the catamaran and the private boats run along the capes, and the boats from Nice and Cannes follow the shore.
