What a Saint Tropez day trip is
A day trip here means you sleep somewhere else, usually Nice or Cannes, and spend the middle of
the day in town. The boats sell you a return seat: they land you at 11:30 and sail back at 16:30.
The road day from Nice is a guided day out with a van, a ferry across the gulf and a stop on the way
home.
None of them is a tour of the town itself. Once you land you walk on your own, which suits a
first look at the port, the fishermen's lanes of La Ponche and a coffee on the quay.
Why choose a day trip
No car, and no parking to find
The town has no railway station, and parking costs you: street meters charge €3.00 for an
hour and €9.10 for three, then climb steeply. The biggest car park, the Parking du Nouveau
Port, holds 1,477 cars. A boat or a van from Nice avoids all of it.
The coast from the sea, both ways
The boat from Nice runs two and a half hours along the coast each way, and the crossing from
Cannes takes an hour and a quarter. For $93 or $112 you see the Riviera from the water

A guide, if you want one
The road day from Nice has a driver-guide, collects you at your hotel in Nice, and takes the
ferry across the gulf from Sainte-Maxime. It comes home by road through Port Grimaud, the canal town

A market morning
The boats land at 11:30, so a Tuesday or Saturday sailing gives you the last hour and a half of
the market on Place des Lices, which runs from 8:00 to 13:00.

There is no station in town. You can take the train to Saint-Raphaël and the ZOU! 876 bus,
about an hour and a quarter from the station, from €3. That route is yours to time, but you
plan every connection yourself.

regular sailings run until 20 October, with extra sailings from 23 to 25 October.

Can I get to Saint Tropez by boat from Nice or Cannes?
Yes, from May to October, on the Trans Côte d'Azur boats. The Nice boat leaves Quai Lunel at 09:00 and the Cannes boat Quai Saint-Pierre at 10:15; both land at 11:30 and leave at 16:30, so you get five hours in town. In 2026 the Cannes boat runs to 20 October, with last sailings on 23–25 October.

Does the road day from Nice include the boat?
One way. The van drives you to Sainte-Maxime and the ferry takes you across the gulf; you come back by road by way of Port Grimaud.
When is the market?
